Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

Draft — have this reviewed before running ads. This policy is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles but it is not legal advice. Have your adviser review it, and replace every [ placeholder ] with real details before pointing paid traffic at the site.

This policy explains how Alfie Automotive P/L (ABN [ ABN ]), trading as EVFinder (“we”, “us”, “our”), handles your personal information. We manage personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What we collect

When you use EVFinder, we may collect:

  • Contact details — your first name, mobile number and email address.
  • Your enquiry details — where you would charge an electric vehicle, how much driving you do, your indicative budget, how you intend to pay, and any indicative weekly repayment figure displayed to you.
  • Anything else you tell us in a phone call, email or SMS about the vehicle you are looking for.
  • Technical and campaign information — your IP address, browser and device information, the pages you viewed, and any campaign parameters (such as UTM tags) attached to the link you arrived through.

We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act. Please do not send us government identifiers, health information or financial account details through this website.

2. Why we collect it

  • To identify vehicles that suit your circumstances.
  • To contact you about your enquiry by phone, SMS and email, and to follow up on it.
  • To connect you, at your request, with a seller or a finance provider.
  • To improve the service and understand which marketing is working.
  • To meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.

If you do not provide your contact details we cannot come back to you with vehicle options, which is the whole purpose of the service.

3. Who we share it with

We may disclose your personal information to:

  • EV Depot (evdepot.au) and other related businesses under common ownership, so they can help source or supply a vehicle for you.
  • Vehicle sellers and dealerships, where doing so is necessary to source or negotiate on a vehicle you have asked about.
  • Finance providers and brokers, only where you have asked to be connected with them.
  • Service providers who operate our systems on our behalf — currently our hosting provider, our database provider, our email delivery provider and our analytics providers.
  • Anyone else you authorise, or where we are required or permitted by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information consistently with the APPs.

5. Marketing and how to opt out

If you submit an enquiry, you agree we may contact you about it by phone, SMS and email. We may also send you related information that is likely to be useful to you.

You can opt out at any time — reply STOP to an SMS, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or email us at hello@evfinder.au. We will action it promptly. Opting out of marketing does not stop us contacting you about an enquiry already in progress.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how it is used. Where advertising and analytics tools are enabled, they may set cookies and collect information about your visit, and we may share a hashed (irreversibly scrambled) version of your contact details with an advertising platform so it can measure whether its advertising worked.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

7. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Enquiry records are held in an access-controlled database that is not readable by the public website.

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or to meet our legal obligations, then destroy or de-identify it.

8. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@evfinder.au. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within a reasonable period. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing.

9. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at hello@evfinder.au and we will investigate and respond in writing.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page with its last-updated date at the top.
